The first project, our portaportal, was not too difficult to grasp, but it did take some time to gather all of the different websites. Our portaportals are not only useful now for us while we are still studying education, but we can keep our same portaportal when we get a job. Having this many reference sites on hand in one place will be a tremendous help our first few years!
We then made a classroom website. We had to create a hypothetical website, so we can not necessarily use that same site. On the positive side, it was a great experience using google sites, because it helped me learn how to build a website. There are many website builders, that our school system may require us to use, but I think that google sites exposed us to many of the typical website building gagets. Building the website was definitely testing! It was time consuming, but I can honestly say I enjoyed it and I have so much more technological knowlege that I will need for my classroom. My favoirtie part about the website was I could begin to learn the proper ways of communicating to students, parents, and colleagues through technology. :)
Great post Misty! Your website was awesome! I didn't get to view your portaportal, but if it was anything like your website then I am sure it is full of all sorts of great resources. I agree that these projects will help us in our future classrooms. This class is a great way for us to be prepared to be teachers in the technology era, because I will admit, I was embarrassed the first few weeks of class at how little I knew about technology. I honestly had no idea there were so many cool tools with technology that can be used in our future classrooms. I feel that as we continue to learn fun new ways to teach our students we will become even better teachers that provide students with education for today's world. :)
